The Wrestler

The Wrestler, directed by Darren Aronofsky, tells the sad story of the last days of a professional boxer named Randy "The Ram" Robison (interpreted by Mickey Rourke). Speaking personally, I agree on those that say Aronofsky is overrated. Although that doesn’t mean he’s not a good director. Darren is talented and an original filmmaker, he proved it with Pi, Requiem for a Dream and (in my view) his best movie until now: The Wrestler. Mickey Rourke gives the best interpretation of his career being mentioned in 2009 Oscar’s for Best actor. Also, Marisa Tomei gives and incredible interpretation, being as well in conversations as the Best supporting Actress. Besides the main protagonists, the rest of the cast makes a great job too. The direction from Darren, using long takes to follow the characters with the great photography, makes this film visually beautiful but at the same time, intense and real. The dialogues are perfect, every word feels real and there are scenes with power...
