DOGVILLE

Lars Von Trier is one of the most polemical directors ever due to his controversial comments about the holocaust, Hitler, Woman, Violence… He considered himself as a God, in my opinion he is egocentric, overrated and many times too pretentious. But at the same time, his is very talented and has really great films and Dogville is one of them. The acting is perfect as well as the music. The idea of making a village where the houses don’t have walls could be pretentious but in this film it has sense because Dogville is about the human condition and the reactions, due to this idea you could see the reactions from everyone when in a normal film you couldn’t see what it is happening in the other house. The transformation from all the characters is really dark but at the same time real. My only issues are that sometimes the narrator talks too much or explains the events with unnecessary detail, and the shaky cam is sometimes too shaky. A great and original film worthy of a deep analysis of the human.
