The Last Dance

Maybe with this review, I’m going to be controversial. The Last Dance is a documentary about the Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan. I’m a huge fan of basketball and NBA, I started watching it in 2011, and before that year I only knew the most important players but nothing else. After many recommendations, I decided to watch this documentary. I feel like this miniseries speak about two topics: one is Michael Jordan as a person, all his mentality, the relationship with his teammates, the pressure of media, and how he becomes not only the greatest basketball player but also the greatest athlete/player ever in sports history. The second is the teammates, the coach, and the path of the Chicago Bulls to become a legendary team. I found the first part really exciting because you are like inside Jordan's brain and you see how he thinks, all the ethic work and mental strengths he has are very well accomplished. However, I found problems with the second part, I didn’t find it interesting at all. Despite Dennis Rodman, the rest of the team isn’t as engaging as MJ and Rodman. This documentary contains 10 episodes of 50 minutes each one, and 8 h and 33 minutes in total. Too long in my opinion, because in the end it feels like a highlight of the greatest moments and plays from Michael Jordan, and I don’t want that. If I want to watch the best plays of Jordan I will go to YouTube and search highlights. All the psychological-related matters are entertaining but the rest is simply showing plays and plays and how good were the Bulls. Maybe for people who watch the NBA in that era (the 80s & 90s) will see it from a different point of view. If you are a fan of the NBA, you are going to be entertained. Maybe the hype was too high in my head. I passed a good time watching but 8 h and 33 minutes are too much. Punctuation: 2/5 |
