Silverado

Silverado - Película 1985 - SensaCine.com
The 50s and 60s were the golden eras for the westerns. In my opinion, from the 60s to the present day, no western masterpieces have been made (except Unforgiven from Clint Eastwood). It doesn't mean that the "modern" westerns are bad and one example is Silverado. This film is pure entertainment, the cast is very talented and they all make a great job. The plot gets more intense and dramatic every minute and it tries to break every cliché from the genre. Maybe Silverado has one of the best photography ever: the colors, sets and the natural landscapes from New Mexico combined with the powerful music make this film enjoyable. Despite all that, this film has some huge problems. The tone is very inconsistent, trying to be funny and melodramatic at the same time. Because of that, you aren't nervous about the characters, because they always win and when it tries to be serious it doesn't work. Another issue is that you don't empathize with the characters or villains, there's no explanation of their past or personality and this point is a consequence of the dialog. Even so, it's a good movie, visually perfect and with great moments and if you enjoy westers or adventures you will like it.
