Purple Noon

Purple Noon - Wikipedia

This film is based on a Patricia Highsmith book and for that, the plot is great. But how many times have we seen great stories and horrible movies? Fortunately, the storytelling from the director René Clément and the three main actors (Alain Delon, Marie Laforêt and Maurice Ronet) makes this film one of the best adaptations ever. First, the colors, photography, design and the camera work of this movie are flawless, it takes time on the 60s of Italy and all the elegant clothes, cars and rich part of that Italy are very well represented. Alain Delon is one of my favorite actors, his interpretation is simply perfect, Delon is able to convey emotions only with the eyes. But to be fair, Marie Laforêt and Maurice Ronet are also great as the rest of the cast. It's a slow burn movie, every second that passes you get more nervous, intriguing, leading to a great end. It’s very close to be a masterpiece but I feel like in some parts, the dialog was a little extended, there are a few scenes that I would make different and there are 10 minutes in the middle that are “boring”. I recommend this film to everyone, it’s really great. Punctuation: 4/5
