Malcolm X

Spike Lee's biopic of the legendary civil rights leader Malcolm X is my favorite work from him at this moment. Spike Lee proves his talent again in this film. Technically it is fantastic, the powerful performance from Denzel Washington is oscar worthy, the cinematography with the use of shadows and light makes this movie beautiful. Despite it is 3 hours long, I didn't get bored, the story behind Malcolm X is too interesting and I like it when a movie takes his time to explain not only the plot but also the motivations and reflections of every character. Maybe it's what I like most of the movie: the intentions and the messages behind this story all are explained with a masterclass of cinema. Some people will find it boring or too long, but if you really like the cinema and you're interested in the history of this character, you'll have a great time. Underrated movie and for me, it deserves my highest mark.
